The Queen rules over the cosmos and is the source of all energy and matter in the world. In her stead, the Empire is ruled by the Lord Protectors, eternal regents of Her Majesty for time immemorial. When Crowley founded Thelema, he declared the Aeon of Horus, lasting until the founding of the Royal Thelemic Lodges. The election of the first Lord Protector heralded the beginning of the Aeon of Ma'at, marked by Britannia's eternal dominion over the waves."

Rumours of the Queen's ascension to divinity arose soon after, and within days the entire political apparatus left behind was overtaken by the [Concept('neow_the_regency','Regency')|E] that vowed to rule in her stead. Their followers believe that the royal bloodline, descended from Britannia, became corrupt and degenerate after countless centuries of tyrannical rule, and the royal family was ordered to return to the seas and reunite with their divine progenitor. Before going into hiding, Britannia's instructions were clear - her subjects must show their devotion through sacrifice, so that she may return to reset the royal line, and usher in a new golden age across her dominion."

old_thelema_desc:0 "The Old Thelema faith was abandoned many years ago by most inhabitants of the British Empire in favour of Victorianism. Old Thelemites claim to be practising their faith as originally dictated by the prophet Crowley. They reject the position of the Lord Protectors as regents of the Queen, considering mainstream Thelemite beliefs to be a perversion of the goddess Nuit. Old Thelemites do not believe Nuit is to return to Earth to rule Britannia, and instead consider the British Empire to be a theologically oppressive state, hellbent on spreading their faith and state to all corners of the Earth, making them no different than the Church. This stance was cause for a massive civil war in Britain in the 23rd century, which led to their marginalisation from society. As such, Old Thelemites only persist in the fringes of Britain, and instead focus their practice on the personal will of the individual, acting to discover their True Will."
