sikhism_religion_desc:1 "Sikhism is a monotheistic religion founded by the ten Gurus, the tenth and final being the Guru Granth Sahib, the living Guru and holy scripture of the religion. The teachings of the Gurus serve to bring their students - the Sikhs - closer to oneness with Waheguru, the all-encompassing one God."

amritdhari_desc:1 "Sikhs have traditionally practised a purification rite called the Amrit Sanskar in order to be initiated into the Khalsa - the spiritual community of the Sikhs. Upon initiation, one becomes an Amritdhari, and is from then on obligated to follow the Sikh articles of faith with strict diligence. However, the prevailing belief is that prior to the Event, most Sikhs chose to forgo the initiation ceremony, refusing to purify themselves or wear the five symbols of faith. Thus, because of the build up of impurity, the world sought to purify itself via the Event. Modern Sikhs, as a result, seek to follow their articles of faith with renewed vigour. Each Sikh must wear the five Ks - kesh, kangha, kara, kachhera and kirpan. Additionally, they must not commit adultery, cut their hair, consume any intoxicants, or eat kutha meat. Through strict adherence of these practices, Sikhs can hope to live a pious life, and achieve oneness with Waheguru after death."
